Off with a bang! Placing Top 10 at the World Cup
January 16th was our first world cup of our two day world cup stop in Yaroslavl, Russia. The first day didn't go as planned. I was second to go and even though I skied out of my jump I unfortunately slapped back. Slapping back is when your feet stay on the ground, and your back hits the ground, but you “pop” yourself back up and ski out just fine. This jump didn't get me the score I needed to get into the top 12 sadly, but I still had the next day. Usually, our competitions run like so; everyone takes their first jump, then the top twelve from the first round move on to finals, and then the top six compete for the podium. Usually, it's only one day of competition and not two, but we had a team event. We only get one jump unless we were chosen for the team event (where usually the highest scoring people on the team are put together in a group of three to compete.) I landed the one jump I got to do and got my first TOP 10 in a world cup! Team USA took home 3rd place for the team event, and then we were off to Moscow.
